Authorities in China’s Guangdong province have confirmed that a 25-year-old man killed six people, including children, and injured another at a kindergarten on Monday morning in what local media said was a knife attack.
Panic spread online when it became the most popular discussion on domestic social media site Weibo, with 290 million views as of 1:50 p.m. according to local time (5:50 GMT). At the same time, many users are demanding the death penalty for the attacker.
The incident follows a kindergarten stabbing attack last August in which three were killed, six more injured, and another in which two children were killed and 16 more injured in 2021.
