Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, will miss the next two Premier League games after undergoing minor back surgery in Barcelona.

This was revealed in a statement released on Tuesday by the Premier League champions’ official website, www.mancity.com, which stated that Guardiola had been suffering from back discomfort for some time and had emergency surgery in Barcelona.

“Pep Guardiola underwent a routine operation on a back problem today,” according to the statement.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has been suffering from significant back pain for some time and traveled to Barcelona for emergency surgery performed by Dr Mireia Illueca. The procedure went well, and Pep will now rest and heal in Barcelona.

In his absence, assistant manager Juanma Lillo will oversee the coaching of the first team on the training field and will assume duties on the touchline until Pep’s return. He is expected to return after the forthcoming international break.
