Although Rasmus Hojlund equalized with his first goal for the Reds, any hopes of a tie were quickly dashed when the VAR advised referee Glenn Nyberg to review his screen for a potential handball by Christian Eriksen when he couldn’t get out of the way of a Dayot Upamecano header deep beyond the far post.
The fact that Casemiro tied the score at 3-2 before Mathys Tel restored Bayern’s two-goal lead in stoppage time made the decision extra harder to make. United’s number 18 scored once more with a few seconds left on the clock, leaving everyone wondering what might have been with the score at 4-3.
