Christmas: Abuja church gives 23 students scholarship, food items to 150 widows

The Assistant Pastor, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) province 2, Region 45, Gabriel Adewuyi, has urged philanthropic individuals, organization to assist those in need during the festive season and beyond.

Adewuyi said this during the 2023 Christian Social Responsibility (CSR) Empowerment Programme, themed Season of Joy, which featured distribution of grinding machines to 23 widow’s, Provisions it education grants worth N640k, and distribution of food items to 150 widows, on Sunday in Abuja.

The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) clergy noted that uplifting the poor in the society will result to the giver’s lifting as the bible instructed.

He said: “Every year in December, we gather to praise God for what he has done since the beginning of the year.

“The bible instructed us to take care of the less privileged; so we want to shower that they can work with, that can set them up to not depend on people again.

“Whomever is privileged should help those who are not privileged, we should rise up to the help of the society, Jesus said the poor will always be with us, that means there will always be poor people. We should let them know that taken care of them will bring blessing to those who are their benefactors” he said.

Also speaking, Assistant Pastor and Coordinator CSR, FCT province 2, Sunday Adebomi, noted that the initiative was birthed due to the lack of financial sources and jobs for people.

He said: “We discovered that there is poverty in the land, and a lot of  people needs empowerment to be able to meet their socio economic and financial needs. So because of that, we picked person’s within the 23 zones who actually needs this materials as a way of enhancing their livelihood.” He said.

In his words, Chairman CSR Empowerment Programme, Kayode John said, “The main aim of this is to touch the lives of people, but for now at this level, I want to believe that we have just started and God will increase our resources so we can go beyond this level”.

Earlier, Pastor and Women Coordinator, Esther Adewuyi noted that the food items given to the widowed women as a form of encouragement, to put a smile on their face.

In her appreciation remarks, one of the beneficiaries, Ruth Pius expressed gratitude, adding that the item given to her will go a long way for her and will enable her pay her daughter’s school fees.
