Last month, another Nigerian lady, Helen Williams had set a new record for longest handmade wig. The wig stretches an incredible 351.28 metres (1,152 ft 5 in).
She spent 11 days and over N200000 (£2,031; $2,493) making the wig.
Chidinma who hails from Imo state, heads a brand that makes premium crochet, 6chi_crocheting_brand.
Speaking with The Nation, Chidinma explained that she started crocheting at a very tender age and found it as a hobby and later grew a strong passion for crocheting different accessories and dresses.
For her, she remains passionate and resolute through her aims, and most importantly to reach the peak of her career through the business of crocheting.
In breaking this record, the 30-year-old crochetist had prepared herself in three formidable areas including physical endurance, mental preparedness, and a supportive team to make the process seamless.
She said: “I’ve gone through the physical endurance stage so I can get the stamina through to crochet continuously for long durations. I’ve also trained my mind to remain focused and resilient during this crochet marathon.
“Also, with the help of my supportive team, they will help to assist with documentation, witness requirements, and ensuring adherence to the guidelines.”
