Chelsea striker Nicholas Jackson has been labelled as ‘the worst striker in the Premier League‘ after missing a gilt-edged chance against Crystal Palace

The 22-year-old has scored seven league goals goals for Mauricio Pochettino‘s struggling side but has endured a frustrating first season in English football. 

He has been widely criticised for missing a number of big chances and his struggles in front of goal continued against Crystal Palace.

With the score tied 1-1 in the 74th minute, Jackson was played clean through on goal by Conor Gallagher. 

The striker  attempted to lift the ball over Eagles goalkeeper Dean Henderson. He did so with success but dragged his effort wide of the post to his own surprise.

Chelsea fans slammed Jackson after the miss, with many claiming they were unsurprised by the miss. 

‘There are some things that are certain in this world: taxes, death and Nicolas Jackson missing a big chance, a Blues supporter wrote on X. 

Another said: ‘Mateta and Nicolas Jackson having their own little game of who can be the worst striker in the league’. 

A third mirrored those views, saying: ‘Nicolas Jackson is genuinely the worst striker in the league’. 

‘How in the world did Nicolas Jackson miss that chance’, a shocked fan added.

Minutes later, Jackson thought he made up for his mistake after finding the net, but his strike was ruled out for offside after a VAR check. 

Despite his miss, Chelsea went on to claim victory against Chelsea through Noni Madueke;s late penalty after Michael Olise cancelled out Mykhailo Mudryk’s opener.
