Alvaro Morata, Tijjani Reijnders, and Malick Thiaw all scored goals in AC Milan’s unexpected 3-1 victory over Champions League holders Real Madrid on Tuesday. In the 12th minute, Thiaw headed a corner kick for seven-time European champion Milan to take the lead, but 11 minutes later, Vinicius Jr. equalized with a penalty kick.
Milan’s decisive victory over the unimpressive championship holders was completed by Reijnders scoring a cross from Rafael Leao during a counterattack, and Morata gave the visitors the lead again by scoring from a rebound in the 39th. With six points, Real Madrid is currently in 17th place out of 36 teams in the Champions League standings, one spot ahead of Milan on goal differential after four games.
