Morocco did the unthinkable tonight as their fairytale run at the 2022 World Cup continues with a shock 1-0 win over Portugal just days after beating Spain on penalties to reach the quarter-finals.
En-Nesyri rose to head home just before half-time and the Moroccan defense took over from there, stifling Portugal’s attack for the full 90 minutes.
Ronaldo started the match on the bench as Fernando Santos again favored youngster Goncalo Ramo in attack, but the Portuguese manager turned to the aging captain just minutes after half-time.
In the end it had little effect as Ronaldo let his one good chance turn the game around later. Rafael Leao was a real injection into the attack, but his introduction came too late to change the goal.
