Manchester United defeated Arsenal 2-0 at MetLife Stadium to maintain their perfect preseason record.
Declan Rice, Kai Havertz, and Jurrien Timber all received their first Arsenal starts for the high-profile match that took place three weeks prior to the start of the Premier League season. Andre Onana was not selected for the United team.
Early in the game, Antony missed wide before Gabriel Martinelli quickly followed with two straight shots at Tom Heaton as the Gunners started to take control of the game. However, two mistakes proved expensive as United seized total control.

After taking over for Harry Maguire as captain, Bruno Fernandes scored United’s first goal on the half-hour mark with a long-range shot. Aaron Ramsdale failed to make the stop, which should have been an easy one, and the ball went through him. A few minutes later, the advantage was doubed when Jadon Sancho, who was positioned to play in the middle, pounced on Gabriel’s swing at thin air just inside his own half. Sancho then raced in on goal and scored the second goal.
