VIDEO: Self-kidnapped man demands N50m ransom from parent in Delta

A self-kidnapped boy, Nelson alongside his uncle, Jerry Lawrence, who demanded a ransom of N50m from Nelson’s father in Bitcoin have been arrested in Delta state.

The command’s spokesperson, Bright Edafe, made this known in a video shared via his X handle on Thursday, June 13.

According to one suspect, Lawrence, he summoned his nephew, Nelson to his house in Warri in the guise of giving him a PS4, where he told him about his financial crisis cajoling the nephew to stage a fake kidnap to collect a ransom of N50m from his father.

The second suspect, Nelson, who is 20 years old, gave the same narration but disclosed that although his father has paid N5m in bitcoin, his uncle has spent N2m without giving any money out of it.

Captioning the video, Edafe wrote: “So this is another dimension to crime, these suspects conspired and faked the kidnap of one of them who is 20 years old. The young man agreed to be chained and beaten, and then the video was sent to the father demanding a ransom of #50,000,000 in bitcoin. The father sent #5,000,000 in Bitcoin before they were arrested. Please, watch them narrate how they planned it.
