
Uganda’s presidential candidate and popular musician Bobi Wine has been granted bail after pressure from his supporters and opposition leaders.
“Let (President Yoweri) Museveni know that we are not slaves, and we shall not accept to be slaves,” Wine said. “We shall be free.”

The 38-year-old opposition figure, who has been arrested many times in recent years, has captured many Ugandans’ imagination with his persistent calls for Museveni to retire after 36 years in power.

But Museveni has reiterated in the past that he will only leave office once all countries in East Africa have united into one federation.
