It was well documented that Ronaldo and the Dutch manager had fallen out during his final days at Old Trafford, with the 38-year-old admitting that he had ‘no respect for Ten Hag’.

‘I don’t have respect for him because he doesn’t show respect for me,’ Ronaldo said before going on to claim that he felt betrayed by the manager.

‘Some people, they don’t want me here – not only the coach but the other two or three guys. Not only this year, but last year too.

‘Honestly, I shouldn’t say that. But listen, I don’t care. People should listen to the truth. Yes, I feel betrayed.’

Following their power struggle, Ronaldo was axed by the club and subsequently moved to play for Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League.

Meanwhile, Ten Hag went on to guide United to their first piece of silverware in six years, yet, he admitted he had felt like Ronaldo had stabbed him in the back, admitting he didn’t want to stay at United in his bombshell interview with Morgan.

‘In the summer we had one talk. He came in and said, “I will tell you in seven days if I want to stay”. Then he came back and said, “I want to stay,”’ The Dutchman said.

IT’S ALL KICKING OFF!

It’s All Kicking Off is an exciting new podcast from Mail Sport that promises a different take on Premier League football, with a show every Monday and Thursday this season.

It is available on MailOnline, Mail+, YouTube , Apple Music and Spotify

‘Until that moment (the interview) I never heard anything. He never told me, “I want to leave”.

‘The interview I think, as a club, you can’t accept. There will be consequences. To make that step, he knew the consequences.’

Despite that questions have been asked over whether the Dutchman is reckless or rutheless, having gotten rid of Ronaldo, David de Gea and ostracising Jadon Sancho.

United have endured a torrid start to the Premier League this season, dropping to eighth in the table, with pressure now mounting on Ten Hag after his side have suffered eight defeats this season and crashed out of the Champions League.
