President Bola Tinubu has appointed new heads for the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) and the Department of State Services (DSS). Effective immediately, Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed takes over as Director-General of the NIA, bringing extensive foreign service experience, including roles in North Korea, Pakistan, Sudan, and Libya. Mr. Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi is the new Director-General of the DSS, having risen through the ranks with significant experience as State Director in multiple states.
The President has tasked them with enhancing their agencies’ effectiveness and improving collaboration with other security bodies. He also thanked the outgoing Directors-General for their service. The announcement was made by Chief Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President, on August 26, 2024.
