A 19-year-old driver, identified as Nsikak Okon, was arrested by police in Edo State after a reckless high-speed driving incident that injured three officers.
During a search of his vehicle, authorities discovered substances suspected to be hard drugs.

The incident unfolded on Thursday in a busy area of Benin, where Okon engaged in reckless driving. He nearly collided with several officers before deliberately striking three of them and fleeing the scene, damaging multiple vehicles in the process.
Police were eventually able to stop him and discovered suspected illegal drugs in his tinted, plate-less GLK vehicle. While two of the injured officers have since recovered and been released from the hospital, the third remains under medical care.
This incident has sparked a heated online debate, with opinions divided between calls for severe punishment for the driver and skepticism regarding the police’s account of events. This incident highlights ongoing concerns about road safety and the tensions between youth and police in Nigeria.
