Nigerian troops have arrested a suspected bandit who became widely known online as Sule Yellow for using TikTok to display kidnapping proceeds and armed activities.
According to Africhome sources @suleyellow6, was taken into custody during an intelligence-led operation late on March 15. Reports indicate he was apprehended shortly after collecting ransom from a victim’s family.

Earlier this month, on March 4, Sule Yellow appeared in a widely shared TikTok livestream. In the session, he joined other armed individuals to show off weapons, cash, and discuss operations openly, projecting confidence while in a forest setting.
Following the arrest, the associated TikTok account was quickly disabled. Footage from the operation shows the suspect in custody—handcuffed, appearing shaken and distressed, with visible signs of rough handling—offering a sharp contrast to his earlier bold online appearances.

The capture highlights the military’s growing use of social media monitoring to track criminal suspects in Nigeria’s northwest and north-central regions, where bandit groups frequently carry out abductions for ransom.
