Niger State governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has ordered the immediate dissolution of the Niger State Universal Basic Education Board (NSUBEB).
Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Abubakar Usman, announced on Friday, that the decision was part of the administration’s ongoing efforts to reposition and strengthen the education sector for enhanced efficiency, accountability and improved service delivery.
The governor further directed all members of the dissolved Board, including the Secretary, to hand over all official documents, assets and responsibilities of the Board to the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education.
Governor Bago expressed appreciation to the outgoing Board members and the Secretary for their service and contributions to the growth and development of basic education in the State and wished them success in their future endeavors.
Meanwhile LEADERSHIP gathered that members of the Board have been entangled in internal wrangling with the chairman over alleged lack of adherence to financial rules.
