Kebbi To Host Media Summit On Existential Threats

The Arewa Broadcast Media Practitioners Forum, in collaboration with the Kebbi State Government, is set to host a two-day media and security summit, starting from November 10 to 11, 2025, in Birnin Kebbi, the state capital.

The summit, themed “Existential Threats and National Security,” will bring together prominent personalities, including traditional rulers, government officials, academia, and media practitioners from across the northern region.

The event will be declared open by the Kebbi State governor, Dr. Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu, and will feature keynote speakers, including former Chief of Army Staff, General Abdulrahman DanBazau, and Prof. Attahiru Jega.

“We are honored to host this summit, which will provide a platform for stakeholders to discuss pressing security issues affecting the nation,” said Alhaji Abdullahi Yelwa, chairman of the Arewa Broadcast Media Practitioners Forum.

The summit will also feature a panel discussion, with Amb. Usman Sarki, Dr. Yahuzu Gesto, Ibrahim Katsina, and Samuel Aruwa, among others, sharing their expertise on the theme.

A media parley, anchored by Shu’aibu Mungadi, will also be held as part of the summit, with the state governor in attendance.

“The summit is a timely initiative, and we look forward to meaningful discussions and recommendations that will enhance national security,” said Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed, Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee.

The event is expected to attract representatives from private media organizations, veteran journalists, and other prominent personalities, including the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Muhammad Saad Abubakar among other emirs of the region.
