On Wednesday night at DRV PNK Stadium, Inter Miami defeated tense MLS rival Orlando City 3-1 thanks to goals from Messi in both halves and Josef Martinez on a penalty kick early in the second half.
In the Leagues Cup Round of 16, Inter Miami will next face FC Dallas. Messi’s first away match since joining the MLS is set for this coming Sunday in Dallas.

Messi kept up his stellar play, propelling Inter Miami from last place to the next round of this brand-new North American knockout tournament. Orlando City only managed to match one Josef Martinez goal from the penalty spot, while Cesar Araujo’s goal in the first half was not enough.
