Manchester United reached FA Cup semi-final by beating Fulham 3–1 in the quarter-finals at Old Trafford.
Fulham started the game brightly and they had an early shout for a penalty in the second minute after Shaw brought down their star player Mitrovic during the visitors’ corner.
The second half continued and Fulham continued their intensity. Within five minutes of the restart, Mitrovic made a breakthrough from a corner. United had plenty of work to do as they fought their way back into the match.
Willian’s handball sparked an astonishing turnaround that saw coach Silva and Mitrovic red carded as well as the Brazilian.
Bruno Fernandes levelled the tie from the penalty spot and Marcel Sabitzer’s clever finish from close range completed the reversal of fortunes to leave Fulham’s remaining nine men bereft.
Fernandes added late gloss to the scoreline with an emphatic finish and it is Erik ten Hag’s team that will face Brighton at Wembley next month.
