Benjamin Mendy, a former Manchester City defender, has signed a two-year contract with Ligue 1 club Lorient after being found not guilty of a rape charge.

Mendy was found not guilty of rape and attempted rape by a jury at Chester Crown Court on Friday.

Earlier this year, the footballer was declared not guilty of sexual assaults on several women, but the jury was unable to reach verdicts on the two accusations, prompting a retrial.
