A huge $1.58 billion Mega Millions jackpot, the third-largest in US history, has been claimed by an individual in Florida, ending a nearly four-month winless streak.
Tuesday’s winning numbers were: 32, 19, 13, 33, 20, with a Mega Ball of 14.
According to the Florida Lottery, the winning ticket was purchased at a Publix supermarket shop in Neptune Beach.
The victory on Tuesday night ended a record of 31 consecutive games without a winner dating back to April 18th, highlighting the rarity of Mega Millions jackpot wins, with chances of one in 302.6 million.
While the winner has the option of receiving the full money in annual payments over 30 years, the lump-sum option is more popular, with the latest award valued at $783.3 million.
The winnings are subject to federal taxes. Lottery winnings are also taxed in many states.
