A tragic road accident in Lagos claimed the life of a male motorist on Thursday morning, while his wife sustained critical injuries after a granite-laden truck toppled onto their Toyota saloon car.
The incident occurred at Eleko Junction along the Lekki–Ajah Expressway, a busy route in the state.According to officials from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), the articulated truck experienced a mechanical failure, leading to a sudden loss of control.

The vehicle veered off its path and overturned, crushing the smaller car beneath its weight and trapping the occupants inside the wreckage.Bystanders, alongside LASTMA personnel and the Federal Road Safety Corps, worked quickly to rescue the victims.
The husband was pronounced dead at the scene due to the severity of the impact, while his wife, who had been in the front passenger seat, was extricated with life-threatening injuries and rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment.
This latest crash highlights ongoing concerns about heavy vehicle maintenance and road safety on Lagos highways, where overloaded or faulty trucks frequently contribute to fatal collisions.
