Children were left ‘screaming’ after hardcore porn started playing on a ferry’s TV during a crossing from France to Britain.
The ferry company, DFDS, issued an apology after the pornographic film was mistakenly broadcast during the voyage from Dieppe to Newhaven last month.
DFDS said it was ‘very sorry’ following the incident which saw an ‘adult film’ shown on the lounge television after passengers had watched a Formula One grand prix.
This mistake resulted in children being exposed to what one passenger described as ‘hardcore porn’.
A group of passengers had asked to watch the race on the public TV, with DFDS claiming they were ‘not aware’ that the film was due to play afterwards.
DFDS said: ‘Once the crew were alerted to the content, the channel was swiftly changed.’
It also reassured the channel had since been removed from the list of stations it offered on board the ferry, saying: ‘This will not happen again.
‘We are very sorry for the understandable upset and anger that this caused.’

Speaking to the The Argus, in Brighton, one passenger who requested to remain anonymous, described the bizarre incident as ‘a bit mad’.
They told the paper: ‘Suddenly, kids ran out of the recliner lounge area screaming.
‘Some parents came out and they were asking the man who worked there to sort the TV out, they were saying “there’s hardcore porn on the TV”.
‘I couldn’t see it, but it was audible.’
The passenger went on to say that a member of staff turned the television off, and added: ‘It was a bit mad. I don’t know how it got on there.
‘It was a whole mess with the ferry crossing. People were really disgruntled.’
It comes after a similar incident in October 2015 which saw porn mistakenly played at an airport in Lisbon.
The clip began playing at around 3am and replaced the usual graphics seen on the screens above a baggage carousel.
