Police Nab 3 Suspected Gunrunners, Recover Firearm In Kebbi

The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested three suspected gunrunners and recovered a fabricated AK-47 rifle and 737 rounds of 7.62x39mm live ammunition in separate operations in Bena and Dolekaina.

According to the police, the suspects, Rabi’u Umar, 20 years old and Nasiru Hussaini, 26, were apprehended on October 30, 2025, along Bena-Ribah Road, while Lawwali Ibrahim was arrested on November 3, 2025, at Bakin Mashaya area, Dolekaina, with a large cache of ammunition.

Kebbi State Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Sani said, “The suspects have confessed to smuggling the arms into Nigeria from Mokassa town, Benin Republic.”

He assured of the Command’s resolute commitment to combat banditry, kidnapping, and other violent crimes in the state.

In a related development, a joint police and vigilante team has neutralised a suspected Lakurawa bandit and recovered a Tecno handset in Yeldu, following an invasion of Kwagware village by armed bandits.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Command, CSP Nafiu Abubakar said the Command was working to restore normalcy, apprehend and neutralise the fleeing members of the terror group, and prevent reprisal attacks.

Abubakar said the CP has directed the security team to intensify efforts to eliminate the terror group and maintain synergy to ensure total eradication of crime in the state.
