The Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate in Abia State, Prof Eleazar Uchenna Ikonne, has died.
A statement from his first son, Uche-Ikonne Chikezie, released on behalf of the family, says Mr. Ikonne passed away in the early hours of today.
According to the statement, the former vice-chancellor of Abia State University was in recovery after receiving treatment in the United Kingdom.
However, he relapsed a few days ago, leading to multiple cardiac arrests from which he didnβt recover.
