Sheikh Abduljabar Nasiru Kabara has been sentenced to death by hanging by the Kano State High Court of Islamic Law after he was found guilty of making inappropriate comments about the Prophet Muhammad.

The verdict was made on Thursday after Judge Ibrahim Sarki Yola found him guilty all the crimes he was charged with.

Among the accusations against him, it is alleged that his preaching could cause riots in Kano state.

After he was found guilty of the crimes, Justice Sarki Yola adjourned the court session to allow him to write the sentence that will be given to the teacher.

On Friday, July 16, 2021, the Kano state government arraigned the teacher in court on charges of blasphemy against religion and inciting the public, a charge he has repeatedly denied.
