Bayern Munich beat Barcelona 3-0 at the Camp Nou on Wednesday night to advance to the last 16 of the Champions League as group winners.
Xavi Hernandez’s side went into the game knowing they had no chance of making the finals for the second successive year after Inter Milan thrashed Viktoria Plzen 4 -0 in early kickoff.
First-half goals from Sadio Mane and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting put Bayern top of Group C with 15 points after one game, with Inter Milan finishing second. Despite the results of the last match day, third place Barcelona is on its way to the Europa League.
