US military forces conducted an over-the-horizon counter terrorism operation today against an ISIS-K planner”, Central Command Spokesman Bill Urban said in a statement on Friday.
Islamic State-Khorasan (ISIS-K) is a splinter group of the self-styled Islamic State who claimed responsibility for Kabul airport attack where at least 13 US troops and 169 Afghan civilians were killed on August 26.
The Central Command statement added that “initial indications are that we killed the target. We know of no civilian casualties.”
