The Federal Executive Council has approved tolls for federal road and bridges across the country, about 18 years after the Olusegun Obasanjo administration dismantled tolls and abolished the scheme.

Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola told state house correspondents that the policy will also provide regulation for a legal framework of the tolling plan.
Fashola added that council approved that only dual carriageways of the 35,000 kilometers should be eligible for tolling by the federal government. Fashola said frequent users will be given a discount while stating that diplomats, paramilitary personnel, as well as two- or three-wheel vehicles like tricycles, motorcycles and bicycles will be exempted
