Super Eagles Captain Ahmed Musa Joins Nigeria Premier League Side Kano Pillars

Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa has rejoined Kano Pillars on a short term deal until the end of the 2020-21 NPFL season, the club confirmed on Tuesday.

A club statement said the 28-year-old is expected to be unveiled before the resumption of the second half of the league later this month.

The move marks a return to the club where Musa first made his name as a player, scoring 18 goals en route the 2009-2010 NPFL Golden Boot in his only season with the Sai Masu Gida.

He’d previously played for Jos side JUTH FC and moved to Eredivisie side VVV Venlo following his lone season in Kano.

Further stints followed in Russia with CSKA Moscow and Leicester City before a stop in Saudi Arabia where he played for Al Nassr before departing by mutual consent last September.Musa has been without a club since leaving Al Nassr and although he was called up and played the closing stages of the 3-0 win over Lesotho, his current clubless status has put his place in the national team under threat.

Joining Kano Pillars ensures he keeps his place in the Super Eagles and reunites him with an adoring fanbase.

Pillars are currently level with Kwara United on 36 points after 19 matches but stay second due to an inferior goals difference.Sai Masu Gida fans will hope Musa can help return the NPFL crown to Kano for the first time in seven years in his short time with the club.
