EEDC Yet To Receive Report On Staff Electrocuted In Onitsha, Anambra State

Days after a middle-aged man, identified as Morris Nonyia, was electrocuted in Ojedi street by Mbah junction, Inland town Onitsha, Anambra State, Enugu Electricity Distribution Company, EEDC, is yet to receive official report on the incident.

Africhome crew gathered that the victim, who was certified dead by a medical doctor, and deposited at the General hospital mortuary in Onitsha, was an “Operation Technician” at EEDC office, GRA, Onitsha.

The deceased, who hailed from Inyi, Oji River, Enugu State, was said to have gained promotion in office recently, after weeklong training in Enugu.

He was said to be working at EEDC installations in Ojedi street, Inland town Onitsha on Monday 09-11-2020, when electric power supply was restored, leading to his instant death.

When contacted, the Head of Communications, Enugu Electricity Distribution Company, EEDC, Mr. Emeka Eze, promised to enquire about the incident and revert to our Correspondent.

It would be recalled that while reacting to similar incident in the past, Mr. Eze had warned that electricity is a hazard, maintaining that qualified staff of EEDC are always advised to observe safety measures while working on electrical installations.

Efforts to speak with the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, on the incident has not been successful.
