Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Can Now Carry Guns When on Duty-House of Reps

The House of Representatives Committee on Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), has given the go ahead for operatives of the Federal Road Safety corps to bear firearms in order to curtail the excesses of road users in Nigeria.

The Committee made the disclosure during the FRSC 2020 budget performance and 2021 budget defence, on Thursday in Abuja.

Hon. Akinfolarin Mayowa, chairman of the FRSC panel further explained that the 1992 Act of the corps allowed them to carry fire arms

Mayowa added that implementation had become necessary to ensure laws were obeyed and to allow the road safety corps function effectively.

However the committee would meet with Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu and seek President Muhammadu Buhari’s appendage to implement the Act.
