Italians will fire hundreds of politicians after voting in a referendum to reduce the size of the country’s parliament by a third.
The move to cut the number of politicians will save the Italian taxpayer more than $1 billion over the next 10 years.

Around 345 politicians will have to say goodbye to ‘la dolce vita’ on their taxpayer-funded salaries and find a real job.
Figures show that 54 percent of Italians turned out to vote in the referendum, with 70 percent of those backing the proposal to say ‘addio’ to the politicians.
